BOSTON – Shooting over 50 percent from the field with a season-high 23 free throws, the Boston University men's basketball team completed the sweep against Loyola Maryland, 92-77, on Wednesday night at Case Gym.

Max Mahoney posted his third double-double of the month with a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds while adding four assists and three steals, as the Terriers (12-10, 6-3 PL) improved to 9-0 all-time at home against the Greyhounds (9-13, 1-8 PL). Junior
Javante McCoy added 24 points, five assists and two steals to help BU net a season-high 24 points off (17) turnovers. The duo combined for 15 of BU's season-high 23 made free throws. Sophomore
Jonas Harper added four 3-pointers to become the third member to reach double figures.
Leading Patriot League scorer Andrew Kostecka (21.4 ppg) was limited to 6-of-15 shooting and 17 points. Jaylin Andrews and KaVaughn Scott combined for 29 points and 14 boards but were unable to prevent the Greyhounds from being outscored in second-chance points, 20-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Andrews hit a pair of free throws to cut Loyola's deficit to 7-6 at 17:16, Harper's 3-pointer sparked a 9-0 run capped by McCoy's layup at 15:00.
- The Greyhounds eventually pulled within three (25-22) at 9:34 on two Kostecka free throws, but Mahoney responded with six straight points to prevent the Greyhounds from getting any closer.
- Mahoney added a layup and bonus free throw at 3:05 for the Terriers' largest lead of the half, 38-26.
- Andrew started the second half with a 3-pointer to give the Greyhounds their final single-digit deficit of the game, 44-37, before Mahoney scored five straight points on a layup, offensive putback and bonus free throw.
- McCoy and Harper flushed back-to-back treys to extend the lead to 55-39 at 17:37.
- BU reached a 20-point advantage (68-48) for the first time when McCoy converted on Mahoney's steal with a fastbreak layup and free throw at 14:10.
- Facing a 78-57 deficit with 8:15 remaining, the Greyhounds went on an 11-0 run before McCoy scored from behind the arc at 4:22.
- The Terriers added 10 free throws over the final three minutes to prevent any chance of an extended rally.
GAME NOTES
- After claiming its largest margin of victory in a road PL game against Loyola back on Jan. 13 (85-53), the Terriers matched their highest offensive scoring output in a PL game, previously set during the 92-81 home win against Lehigh on Jan. 8, 2018.
- Finishing 11-of-15 en route to 29 points for his 13th career double-double, Mahoney surpassed Rashad Bell (1,367 pts.) for No. 12 all-time at BU with 1,370 career points and just needs seven more boards for 600.
- With 55 assists in 22 games, Mahoney has surpassed last season's total of 53 set in 32 games and just needs two more steals to match last year's total of 25.
- Tallying 20+ points for the sixth time in his career, McCoy sits at 906 career points and is now three assists ahead of last year's total of 75 helpers.
- Junior Sukhmail Mathon nearly had a double-double, tallying eight points and seven rebounds.
- Committing just 10 turnovers, BU finished 31-of-58 (.534), 7-of-18 3FG (.389) and 23-of-31 (.742), as the Greyhounds went 27-of-53 FG (.509), 6-of-20 3FG (.300) and 17-of-23 FT (.739).
- The Terriers and Greyhounds held a moment of silence tonight following the tragic passing of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and eight other victims in a helicopter crash this past Sunday.
- Both teams wore yellow laces as part of the Lacing Up 4 Pediatric Cancer nation-wide promotion to help support the Go4theGoal Foundation.

- Though they are coming off a sweep against Loyola, the Terriers will visit the Bison in the first meeting between the two programs this season on Saturday (Feb. 1) with a 2 p.m. tip.
- Both home teams won last season with the Terriers claiming an 87-80 victory at The Roof and Bucknell prevailing at Sojka Pavilion, 82-76.
