CUMBERLAND, R.I. – Opening an eight-match road trip, the Boston University men's tennis team came up just short to Bryant, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at Fore Court.
With their second win against the Patriot League, the Bulldogs improve to 6-11 and hand the Terriers (2-4) their second one-point defeat of the season. BU won the doubles point, but Bryant rallied in singles with four wins, including two in three set thrillers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bryant won the top doubles match, 6-2, but sophomore Max Hartenstein and freshman Kirill Belov were able to even things with a 6-3 win at line 2.
- Junior Ethan Kolsky and freshman Jon-Kyle Tan gave BU the 1-0 advantage by defeating Wilson Dong and Nick Lorenz at line 3, 7-6.
- Four of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets.
- Hartenstein dropped the fewest games for the Terriers in a 6-4, 6-1 win at line 4.
- Junior David Bogatin added the third point for BU in a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the top slot.
- The Bulldogs posted a 6-0, 6-4 win at line 5 and added their second point by holding off Belov in the No. 6 slot, 7-5, 7-6.
- BU won the first set in the other two matches before Bryant rallied to claim the other two points.
- Trent Massam defeated junior Pete Siozios at line 3 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 decision, while Guido Argentini posted a 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory at line 2 against junior Owen Lu.

- BU will visit the Engineers on Saturday (Feb. 22) with a 1 p.m. start time.
- The Terriers pulled out a 4-3 victory last season by capturing the doubles point and three singles point.
