ALLSTON, Mass. – Looking to remain unbeaten against the Ivy League, the Boston University women's tennis team came up short at Harvard, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Crimson (6-2) claimed a tightly-contested doubles point and then captured five of six singles points in straight sets to hand the Terriers (5-2) their first shutout defeat.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harvard rolled to a 6-1 win at line 2 in doubles and then held off junior Lily Burchell and sophomore Sofia Kostirko, 7-5, at line 3 for the 1-0 advantage.
- Junior Emily Kim and sophomore Shelly Yaloz were ahead, 6-5, when their match was halted .
- In the five straight-set contests, Kim won the most sets for the Terriers in a hard-fought 6-4, 6-3 loss.
- Ranked 116th nationally, freshman Erica Di Battista rallied to force a thrid set super itebreaker against Jenna Friedel but ultimately suffered her first loss of the dual season, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6.
- Avenging this past September's 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 loss to Di Battista, Friedel entered the rematch having already beaten No. 90 Yufei Long from Boston College in straight sets back on Jan. 24.

- The Terriers will visit the Eagles on Friday with a 2 p.m. start time.
- BC has won the last six meetings, including a 6-1 home decision back on Feb. 9, 2019.
