HOW IT HAPPENED
- After scoring his first collegiate goal to open the scoring on Sunday, Peterson got things started again when he took a pass from fellow rookie Cade Webber and skated through the right circle before beating UMass netminder Matt Murray far post at 5:03 of the first.
- The Minutemen got an equalizer before the first intermission as Cal Kiefiuk potted a goal with 6:53 left in the opening stanza.
- The visitors scored twice in the second to take a two-goal lead.
- Carson Gicewicz tallied his Hockey East-leading 10th goal of the season when he cashed in on a rebound at 4:31 of the second before Jake Gaudet redirected a Colin Felix offering to the back of the net to double the lead for UMass at the 15:09 mark.
- Gaudet continued to impact the result of the contest as his hit on BU captain Logan Cockerill resulted in a five-minute major and game misconduct just 35 seconds into the third.
- Fensore cashed in from the left circle just 15 ticks into the major power play to cut the UMass lead to 3-2.
- The game-tying tally came at the 6-minute mark when freshmen Luke Tuch stole a pass along the boards and found Skoog in the left slot for a one-timer.
- BU allowed 20 shots on goal in the third but Commesso and the defense was up to the task on each one to help send the game to overtime.
- In overtime, Zabaneh was skating the puck up and out of the BU zone when he spotted Farrance gliding towards the UMass blue line and connected with him to set up a breakaway that the senior tucked in at the left crease to end the game
