Swimming & Diving Welcomes Bryant and Northeastern on Saturday

BOSTON – The Boston University men's and women's swimming & diving teams will remain home on Saturday to host both Bryant and Northeastern with action set to commence at 1:30 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU returned to the FitRec Competition Pool for a dual meet against Bucknell last Saturday. The women's team fell 163-137, while the men dropped a 177-123 decision.
  • For the women's side, senior Sezin Eligul, sophomore Sydney Sorbello, and freshman Alex Pastushan recorded wins in the 100 back, 50 free, and 200 back, respectively.
  • Senior Emily Balicanta totaled 258.15 points in the 1-meter dive to take first, while freshman Sophia Souza won the 3-meter with a score of 270.60.
  • The men's squad had six total first-place finishes. In the pool, junior Kyle Falkstrom won the 100 and 200 breast and classmate Sarsen Whatmore captured the 200 free. Freshman Dolan Grisbaum placed first in the 1000 free.
  • Freshman Lyde De Hooghe was victorious in both the 1- and 3-meter dives.
  • The meet marked BU's first in the 2021-22 season after both teams went 3-0 in dual meets during the shortened spring season. 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
  • Bryant opens its season against Providence on Friday evening. The men are at home, while the women hit the road.
  • In 2020-21, both Bulldog teams won the NEC Championships, combining for 34 medals.
  • For the women, it marked their fourth-straight NEC title. The year prior, the men took third in the 2020 MAAC Championships.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES (WOMEN)
  • Northeastern takes part in its second tri-meet of the year.
  • From Oct. 8-9, the Huskies traveled to Storrs, Conn. to battle UConn and Central Connecticut State.
  • Northeastern defeated the Blue Devils 206-135, but fell to their rival Huskies 156-122.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The women face off against Northeastern and Bryant for the first time since Nov. 7, 2019 and Mar. 13, 2021, respectively.
  • BU took down the Bulldogs in the spring opener 167-131 thanks to 11 first-place results. The Terriers fell to the Huskies 181-110 almost two years ago.
  • As for the men, BU dispatched Bryant 165-135 back in March, earning the gold in eight events.
UP NEXT
  • Following Saturday's action, the Terriers visit UMass for their first road meet of the campaign on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Noon.
