BU (4-3-0) will carry plenty of momentum into this weekend after sweeping Merrimack this past weekend with a pair of shutout victories. The Terriers topped the Warriors, 6-0, on Feb. 5 before earning a 2-0 win on Feb. 7. Junior
Kate Stuart and senior
Corinne Schroeder have backstopped a Terrier defense that has allowed just two goals over its last four games. Since the new year began, only Northeastern (0.46) has allowed fewer goals per game than BU (0.50). One reason for the lack of goals against has been the lack of shots on goal against, as the Terriers have conceded just 20.75 shots on goal per game since 2021 began, which is second in Division I only to Northeastern (20.00).
The newly formed line of juniors Courtney Correia (2g, 2a), Kaleigh Donnelly (1g, 1a) and Emma Wuthrich (1g, 2a) combined for four goals and five assists this past weekend against Merrimack. Correia currently leads the Terriers in both points (8) and assists (6) thanks to her four-point weekend (2g, 2a). She joined this week's Inside Hockey East podcast; her interview can be heard here.
Senior co-captain Jesse Compher returned to the lineup this past weekend and recorded three points (1g, 2a), including a goal and an assist in the 6-0 victory on Friday. She was one of five different goal scorers (Correia, Lacey Martin, Mackenna Parker)Â in that win.
Vermont has not played since Jan. 9, when the Catamounts finished a weekend sweep at UConn with a 3-2 overtime win. UVM has won four straight contests, averaging 3.75 goals per game during the win streak whole allowing just 0.6 goals per game.
Junior defender Maude Poulin-Labelle leads the Catamounts with nine points thanks to a team-best eight assists. Junior Corinne McCool has tallied a team-high three goals and is tied with classmate Theresa Schafzahl for second in points with six. Freshman netminder Jessie McPherson has started three off the team's six games, including the last two tilts against UConn. She owns a 0.65 goals-against average and a .973 save percentage, and has also recorded two shutouts.
