Terriers Open Home Schedule with 15-2 Win over Pace

BOSTON - Five different Terriers scored at least two goals as the Boston University men's lacrosse team defeated Division II Pace, 15-2, on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

BU (2-0) and Pace (0-1) met on short notice, as the Setters were willing to come to Boston after the Terriers' originally scheduled contest against UMass was postponed.

Freshman Christian Quadrino led the Terrier offense with a career-high four goals, scoring on all four shots he took. Junior Jett Dziama secured his first collegiate hat trick, while classmate Timmy Ley also scored three goals. Senior Tommy Nook notched his first career two-goal game, with sophomore Vince D'Alto adding two goals and one assist for a three-point day. Freshman Anthony Forziati scored his first collegiate goal in his first game at Nickerson Field.

Sophomore Louis Perfetto recorded a career-high five assists on Saturday, which matched his career high for points in a single game. Juniors Matt Baugher, Jack Collins and Ben Girolamo all had one assist apiece as 10 different Terriers produced at least one point.

Junior goaltender Matt Garber started and made four saves through three quarters before classmate Alex Gainey entered in relief and made the first four saves of his collegiate career. Sophomore Max Gomez played the final 4:43 for the Terriers in his collegiate debut, stopping the one shot he saw to combine with Gainey in shutting out the Setters over the final 15 minutes.

Senior Sean Christman was impressive at the X, winning eight of the nine draws he took in the first half. Freshman Brian Garrity made his collegiate debut to start the second half and won three of the draws he took.

The Terrier defense was terrific in allowing the fewest goals in program history. Sophomore Patrick Morrison led the Terriers with a career-best four ground balls while senior Michael Doxie tallied three ground balls and a team-high two caused turnovers. Senior Nick Mohler was outstanding in his first appearance since April of 2019, as the defender collected a career-high three ground balls and was one of nine different Terriers to cause at least one turnover.

The Terriers were also terrific on the ground, scooping up 32 ground balls to just 14 for Pace. In addition, BU was impressive on special teams, as the Terriers were 5-of-6 on man-up chances and 3-for-3 against the Setters' extra-man offense.
