BOSTON – In a battle of preseason favorites, the two-time defending Patriot League champion Boston University softball team will host former America East foe Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon with the doubleheader slated to begin at 1 p.m. Both contests will be shown live on ESPN+.
Coming off a 5-0 win at Boston College, the Terriers (8-1) will be home for the first time in 679 days after posting a 14-7 come-from-behind win over Lehigh in the 2019 Patriot League title game. Overall, they are riding a 21 home-game win streak with a perfect 18-0 mark in 2019 and 3-0 performance in the 2018 PL tournament.

Ali DuBois (7-0) earned her fourth shutout of the season against the Eagles on Thursday to improve her 2021 stats to 0.17 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 42.1 innings with opponents batting .129. Her lone run allowed so far was off a solo homer. Sophomore
Allison Boaz (1-0, 1.85 ERA) owns the other win with a no-hit performance at Merrimack and has combined with junior
Emily Gant (0-1, 3.23 ERA) for 12 strikeouts in 15.2 innings.
As a team, BU is batting .299 with 27-6 advantage in extra-base hits. Reigning PL Player of the Week and junior
Nicole Amodio leads the Terriers at .476 with two homers and 12 RBIs, three more than Gant (.350 avg). Sophomore
Caitlin Coker (.346) has earned a team-high eight walks to increase her on-base percentage to .528 while earning four stolen bases. Junior
Aliyah Huerta-Leipner owns a team-high 10 runs scored while batting .321 alongside freshman
Lauren Keleher.
The Seawolves are coming off a doubleheader sweep against Rhode Island (11-6, 7-3) and own key non-conference wins against Furman (2x), Radford and Bowling Green by a combined score of 19-10. They dropped two at James Madison and had a split at Sacred Heart. As a team, SBU is batting .251 with Melissa Rahrich hitting .364 alongside three homers, 11 RBIs and nine runs scored. In the circle, Dawn Bodrug (4-1, 1.70 ERA) has proven tough to handle with an impressive 63 strikeouts in 37.0 innings and opponents batting .147 after tallying 76 strikeouts in 47 IP a year prior. Rahrich (3-1, 4.00 ERA) has made five appearances in the circle with 20 strikeouts in 28.0 innings.
Overall, BU is 26-19 all-time in the series dating back to 2002. The Terriers won the last meeting in 2016 in Florida, 4-0, after being swept on the road in their final weekend series as a member of the America East in 2013. In SBU's last visit to BU, the Terriers eliminated the Seawolves in the 2012 America East semifinals, 7-3.
