The Boston University men's lacrosse team will open its Patriot League schedule on Saturday when the Terriers welcome No. 6/7 Army West Point to Nickerson Field. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
Due to current public health guidelines on gathering sizes and University restrictions regarding visitors on campus, fans are not allowed at Nickerson Field or surrounding areas. Please be advised that any visitors that gather in an attempt to watch the game will be asked to leave the area by game management personnel.
The Terriers have not played a Patriot League opponent at Nickerson Field since April 30, 2019, when they defeated Bucknell in a PL quarterfinal tilt. BU last hosted a league regular-season game on April 20, 2019, when it defeated Holy Cross. The Terriers have won six straight home games against conference foes dating back to April 7, 2018, when they bested Army West Point in the Black Knights' last trip to Boston.
BU improved to 2-0 last weekend with a 15-2 home win over Division II Pace. Freshman
Christian Quadrino (4g) and sophomore
Louis Perfetto (5a) paced the BU offense, with the duo connecting on three of the Terriers' five man-up goals against the Setters. Perfetto is now eighth in the nation and third in the conference with 3.5 assists per game, while Quadrino currently ranks seventh among NCAA rookies and third among Patriot League freshmen in goals per game (2.5).
Junior Timmy Ley extended his goal scoring streak to scored a goal in 17 straight games after his hat trick against Pace. Ley is currently tied for fourth in the NCAA and is first in the Patriot League in goals per game (4.5).
Army West Point improved to 2-1 with a 13-5 home win over Saint Joseph's last Saturday. The Black Knights defeated then-No. 4 Syracuse, 18-11, on Feb. 21.
Junior Brendan Nichtern leads Army in goals (10), assists (9) and points (19), having put together two straight four-goal, three-assist efforts during the team's brief win streak. Sophomore Stevie Grabher is 24-of-54 (.444) at the faceoff X Junior defender Bryan Lehman leads Army with nine ground balls and his four caused turnovers is second only to classmate Marcus Hudgins' five. Junior goaltender Wyatt Schupler has started all three games for Army, posting a 9.88 goals-against average and a .540 save percentage.
