CUMBERLAND, R.I. – Despite reigning Patriot League Player of the Week
David Bogatin winning the top singles point, the Boston University men's tennis team fell at Bryant, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (1-0) won two of three doubles contests for the first point and then captured five singles points, including four in straight sets, to hand the Terriers (2-1) their first loss of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshmen Jose Maria Robalino and senior Owen Lu posted a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles against 2019 NCAA Doubles Championship qualifier Wilson Dong and teammate Grant Pertile.
- The Bulldogs then jumped out to a 1-0 lead by winning the other two doubles matches by a combined score of 12-4.
- Bogatin handed 2019 All-NEC First Team honoree Dong a second loss on the day at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory.
- Senior Pete Siozios jumped out to a one-set lead, but Trent Massam rallied to pull out the No. 2 singles point, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
- Bryant won the other four matches in straight sets with Lu winning the most games in a 7-5, 6-3 loss in the No. 3 slot.
