BOSTON – Looking to carry momentum from Monday's doubleheader sweep at Providence, the Boston University softball team will visit Merrimack for a combined four games on Wednesday (March 10) and Thursday (March 11).

The Terriers went 3-1 against the Friars with senior Ali DuBois (3-0) earning 20 strikeouts in 18.2 innings of work. She held Providence to a .164 batting average to garner her 10th overall Patriot League Pitcher of the Week award. Freshman Lauren Keleher was also recognized by the conference with Rookie of the Week honors after she batted a team-high .400 with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored. Keleher was one of three alongside sophomore Audrey Sellers and junior Emily Gant to go yard in the series.

As a team, BU batted .252 with Gant, junior Aliyah Huerta-Leipner, sophomore Caitlin Coker and junior Nicole Amodio all earning at least three hits apiece. Gant matched Keleher with three RBIs and four runs in just six at-bats. On the defensive front, the Terriers posted a .984 fielding percentage with just two errors, while Providence collected seven on their home field.

The Terriers will face Merrimack for the first time since 1991 and will be making their first trek to North Andover since 1990. After reaching the NCAA Division II tournament in 2018, the Warriors made the move to the Northeast Conference and NCAA Division I ranks in the summer of 2019 and went 2-12 with wins over Quinnipiac (13-4) and St. Bonaventure (3-2).

They are led by a familiar face in former two-time BU captain Elaine Schwager ('95), who appeared in every game from 1992-95 and helped the Terriers claim two conference titles along with the 1992 ECAC Championship. She served as a graduate assistant for the 1998 season and went on to become head coach at Merrimack for the first time from 2006-11 before taking over the program again in 2015.

Abigail Amato is the Warriors' top returning hitter after she batted .378 with a homer and eight RBIs, while Lucy Colarusso hit .364 with four RBIs. Bridget Soraghan made seven starts last season in the circle and posted a 1-4 record and 4.77 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 36.2 innings of work. Madie Fornwalt (1-2, 15.27 ERA) had the second most strikeouts with nine total in 11 innings.
