The Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue its 2021 season on Saturday when the Terriers host Utah in a non-conference matchup. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Due to institutional policy regarding visitors on campus, spectators are not allowed at any athletic event during the spring semester. For BU Athletics outdoor facilities, this restriction includes all areas surrounding the venue. Please be advised that any visitors who gather to watch an event will be asked to leave the area by game management personnel.

Utah will be the third first-time opponent that the Terriers have faced this season, joining Merrimack and Pace in that category. After BU faces the Utes, it will have played against 26 different teams, including 25 different Division I squads.

The Terriers won their third straight game and improved to 3-1 in conference play with a 13-9 triumph at Lafayette on March 27. Graduate student Nicholas Ellerton was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after he caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls while playing all 60 minutes at close defense for a shorthanded Terrier squad. He also notched his first collegiate goal midway through the fourth quarter to stop a 4-0 Lafayette run and regain a three-goal lead for the Terriers.

BU boasts the 10th-ranked defense in the nation, holding opponents to just 8.67 goals per game this season. The Terriers are also seventh in the nation in scoring margin, outscoring opponents by an average of 5.50 goals per game. They continue to be led by the top-scoring attack trio in the Patriot League - sophomore Vince D'Alto (19g, 14), junior Timmy Ley (26g, 6a) and sophomore Louis Perfetto (9g, 13a). They have combined for 54 goals and 33 assists for 87 points through five games. Ley, on a 21-game goal scoring streak, is third in the NCAA in goals per game (4.33).

Junior goaltender Matt Garber has been fantastic in his first season as the Terriers' starting goalkeeper. He is among the top 20 goaltenders in the nation in both save percentage (.600) and goals-against average (8.86), ranking eighth and 14th, respectively, in those categories. Garber made 16 saves, including 11 in the second half, in the Terriers' 13-9 win at Lafayette on Saturday.

Utah, a third-year program, is 2-5 this season, though it only has one Division I victory, a 12-7 win at Bellarmine on Feb. 6. The Utes played No. 5 Denver tough to open the season on Jan. 30, suffering a 9-8 setback in a game that they led at halftime. Tyler Bradbury leads Utah in assists (20) and points (30), with his average of 2.86 assists per game ranking 11th in the NCAA. Freshman Jordan Hyde is the Utes' top goal scorer, having found the back of the net 11 times.

Freshman Cole Brams has won 57.1% of the faceoffs he has taken this season and is seventh in the country with 52 ground balls. Sophomore Samuel Cambere leads Utah with nine caused turnovers. Sophomore Zack Johns has started five of the six games in which he's appeared, posting a .529 save percentage and a 10.42 goals-against average. Sophomore Zion Dechesere has started twice in three appearances, owning an 8.82 GAA and a .486 save percentage.
