The Boston University men's soccer team will begin Patriot League play on Saturday, Sept. 18, when the Terriers welcome Navy to Nickerson Field. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Saturday's showdown will be the second game of a Terrier soccer doubleheader at Nickerson Field. The women's soccer team hosts Lafayette at 4 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is taking the field for the first time since a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime loss at St. John's on Sept. 10.
- Reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week Brian Hernandez scored his first two NCAA goals in the loss to help BU erase a 2-0 first-half deficit and force extra time.
- Hernandez became the third Terrier to find the back of the net this season, joining juniors Ronaldo Marshall and Quinn Matulis.
- Senior Gianluca Arlotti and junior Colin Innes recorded their first assist of the season at St. John's.
- Junior Francesco Montali has started four of the Terriers' five fixtures this season, making 17 saves so far this year.
- Senior Michael Stone kept a clean sheet in his only start of the fall, a scoreless draw at Merrimack on Sept. 6.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 5-2-0 all-time against the Mids, with the last meeting coming in 2019 when the Terriers knocked off No. 23 Navy, 1-0, in overtime at Nickerson Field.
- The Terriers have not allowed a goal in their last three home matches against Navy, winning all three contests by a 1-0 score.
SCOUTING THE MIDS
- Navy (5-0-1) is on a five-game win streak, most recently earning a 2-0 win over Longwood on Tuesday thanks to a goal and an assist by Sidney Paris.
- Paris leads the way on offense with six points and is one of three players to have a team-best two goals on the year, joining David Jackson (2g, 2a) and Baba Kallie (2g).
- Jackson's two assists are first on the squad.
- Tyler Fahning has played every minute between the sticks; he's posted four clean sheets and allowed just three goals all year.
- He's given up just one goal during the Mids' five-game unbeaten streak.
