BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer program's five-game winning streak was snapped with a 1-0 loss to Bucknell on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

With the win, the Bison (8-5-2, 5-1-1 PL) vault over the Terriers (9-7, 5-2 PL) for first place in the Patriot League table. Both sides each generated seven shots and three shots on target.

Redshirt senior Jenna Oldham and junior Abigail McNulty led the team with two shots each. Goalkeepers Celia Braun and Gretchen Bennett each recorded one save.

Teresa Deda notched the game's lone goal, coming in the fifth minute. Netminder Jenna Hall stopped three BU shots to earn the shutout.

Before the game, BU honored its seven senior and three redshirt seniors: Bennett, Ashley Buck, Sophia Woodland, Marli Rajacich, Julianna Stureman, Kayla Ross, Geovanna Pereira, Oldham, Mikayla Alcorn, and Amy Thompson.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Deda broke the ice when her shot just outside the penalty box deflected off a Terrier defender and into the upper-left corner.
Junior Lily Matthews had a chance at the equalizer in the 13th minute when she ripped a 20-yard shot right to Hall down the middle.
Four minutes later, McNulty caught up to a roller down the left sideline and worked free for a 15-yard blast by the left post. Hall dove to her right for the denial.
In the 35th minute, Oldham sent a 30-yard free kick wide right, keeping the score 1-0 Bison as the half would end without a dangerous chance the rest of the way.
Starting in the 57th minute, Bucknell accrued five corner kicks in an eight-minute span, but none led to a chance to go up two goals.
The Terriers picked up a corner in the 77th minute that Oldham inserted. Despite the ball staying in the box after Hall's initial punchout, the Bison were able to clear without a BU shot.
Another Terrier corner turned dangerous in the 82nd minute as the ball was loose in the box for nearly eight seconds. Thompson nearly corralled it for a shot, but Hall was able to smother it to keep Bucknell's lead intact.
With under five minutes remaining, junior Grace Ferrara collected a ball near the top of the box for a shot that just sailed above the crossbar.

GAME NOTES

Bucknell racked up nine corner kicks to BU's six, a season-high allowed by the Terriers.
Five different Terriers recorded a shot.
Bennett boosted her personal scoreless streak to 211:36, stretching over her last five appearances.
BU is shut out for the first time since Sept. 21, which was also its last loss.
Nine of the Terriers' last 10 matches have been one-goal decisions.
Bucknell improves to 7-5-1 all-time against BU.
