BOSTON – Boosted by 15 3-pointers, the Boston University men's basketball team cruised to a 96-51 win over Johnson & Wales on Monday night at Case Gym.

Senior Ethan Brittain-Watts posted career highs in both assists (6) and rebounds (5) alongside 11 points. Graduate student Walter Whyte (2 3FGs) and freshman Otto Landrum (2 FTs) went a combined 10-of-11 to finish with 12 points apiece, while junior Anthony Morales contributed 11 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After Jontai Williams hit a jumper to open the game and JWU earned a defensive stop, Brittain-Watts earned a steal and layup only to be followed by Whyte's steal and 3-pointer to grab the lead for good.
  • Junior Miles Brewster extended the lead to 17-4 at 14:36 on a layup.
  • The Wildcats chipped away and eventually pulled within five (22-17) on Williams' 3-pointer at 10:08.
  • With a 28-23 advantage, graduate student Jonas Harper flushed a pull-up 3-pointer at 4:36 to help the Terriers finish the half on a 17-0 run with sophomore Malcolm Chimezie hitting the final bucket at 20 seconds.
  • Graduate student Fletcher Tynen started the second half with a defensive rebound and emphatic slam dunk set up by Brittain-Watts, as BU extended the run to 32 straight points on junior Caelan Jones' 3-pointer at 15:30 for the 60-23 lead.
  • Landrum's own dunk at 3:52 on classmate Nic Nobili's feed gave BU its largest lead of the game, 91-38.
GAME NOTES
  • The Terriers started a season 2-0 at home in back-to-back seasons for the first time since accomplishing the feat in the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons.
  • BU earned its most points since a 102-78 win over Maine on Nov. 19, 2016.
  • The Terriers' 15 3-pointers are the most since they nailed 15 at Army in a 75-63 road win on Feb. 27, 2021.
  • Brittain-Watts, Landrum and Morales all scored in double figures for the first time this season, giving BU now six guys to have hit the mark.
  • BU met JWU for the first time in program history at the varsity level, as the freshman teams met back in the early 1970s.
UP NEXT
  • BU will next host Hartford on Thursday (Nov. 17) at 7 p.m.
  • The Terriers pulled out a 75-70 road win last year against the 2021 America East champions.
