CUMBERLAND, R.I. – In a matchup featuring four three-set singles matches, the Boston University men's tennis team came up just short to Bryant, 4-3, at Fore Court.
The Bulldogs (3-11) won the first two doubles matches for the first point and then claimed three singles points, including a pair of three-set contests, to fend off the Terriers (0-6).
After Bryant jumped out to a 1-0 lead following doubles, sophomore
Jonah Dickson put BU on the scoreboard with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the top singles slot. The Bulldogs also earned a straight-sets win at line 3 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
In BU's two other singles wins, sophomore
Ben Letzer rallied from a set down to claim a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory at line 4. Freshman
Adrian Pawlowski held off his opponent with a late break for the 6-4,4-6, 7-5 victory in the No. 5 position.
Bryant though won the other two three-setters. Freshman
Dion Loutas rallied to force a third set at line 2 but ultimately fell, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. Freshman
Cole Knutsen won his first set in the No. 6 slot before the Bulldogs rallied for the 0-6, 6-3, 7-5 win.
BU will next head to Philadelphia for matches at Drexel (Feb. 26) and Penn (Feb. 27).
