BOSTON – With less than a week remaining in the regular season and two games separating the second through sixth place teams, the Boston University women's basketball program aims to gain leverage in the Patriot League standings with a contest against Bucknell on Saturday (Feb. 26). Opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Saturday marks Senior Day for the Terriers. BU will honor four-year student-athletes Chiara Tibbitt and Riley Childs. During their tenure, the Terriers have won 60 games, sporting a 44-20 record against Patriot League foes. The ceremony is slated to begin at 1:45 p.m.

Bucknell will play its final road game of the regular season before returning to Lewisburg, Pa. on Mar. 2. The Bison have more road wins this season (10) than in their home arena (9).

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU fell to Lafayette 58-52 on Wednesday (Feb. 23) in Easton, Pa. in its last game.
  • The Terriers whittled down a 13-point, fourth-quarter deficit to 63-59 with 1:19 remaining, but could not get any closer and sustained their second-straight loss for the first time in the 2022 calendar year.
  • Junior Sydney Johnson dropped a team-high 16 points to go with five assists. Classmate Maren Durant notched a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double.
  • BU was held to 25 percent shooting from deep, including 1-for-10 in the second half.
  • With two games remaining in the regular season for every team, BU is tied with American and Bucknell for second place in the standings at 11-5, and is one game behind Holy Cross (12-4).
  • With a win, BU would secure the regular season sweep and the two-team tiebreaker over Bucknell. The Terriers beat the Crusaders in their lone matchup so far, and went 1-1 against the Eagles.
  • BU has earned at least a top-six seed to avoid the first round of the Patriot League Tournament, with the path to the regular season title still a possibility.
  • Lehigh (10-6), who beat the Terriers twice, and Army (9-7), who BU swept, are fifth and sixth in the standings, respectively.
  • Tibbitt has appeared in 57 games in a Terrier uniform. This season, she has set career-bests in games played, field goals, rebounds, and points, including a career-high 16 points in BU's win over Holy Cross on Feb. 16.
  • She is the president and co-founder of the BU Student-Athletes of Color organization, and is the treasurer of the BU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
  • Childs has 81 career games at BU under her belt. The Medway product was selected to the All-Patriot League Rookie Team in 2019 after averaging over seven points and seven rebounds per game.
  • In her career, she has averaged 7.5 rebounds per game, which currently ranks fifth all-time in program history.

SCOUTING THE BISON
  • Bucknell enters the matchup with an identical 11-5 league record, and is 20-7 overall, the lone team in the Patriot League with 20 wins this year.
  • The Bison have won four in a row, the best current streak in the league. They most recently defeated Army 79-51 on Wednesday (Feb. 23).
  • Bucknell allows the fewest points in the PL and 11th-fewest in the nation at 53.8 points per game. It is also 12th in Division I with just 12.3 turnovers per game.
  • Taylor O'Brien leads the team with 16.4 points per game, ranking 36th in Division I with 401 shots and 54th with 168 field goals.
  • Cecelia Collins (11.3 PPG on 42.7 percent shooting) and Carly Krsul (10.6 PPG with 47 blocks) round out the Bison in double figures.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday marks the 16th all-time meeting between BU and Bucknell.
  • The Bison sport the 11-4 advantage, though both teams have traded wins and losses in the last five matchups.
  • In the first contest on Feb. 2, BU was victorious, 67-58. Johnson dropped 23 points, hitting six free throws in the final minute. Durant and freshman Alex Giannaros each added 10 points, while sophomore Caitlin Weimar totaled nine points, 11 boards, four assists, and two blocks.
  • This will be the first matchup in Boston between the teams since Feb. 1, 2020, a 52-48 Terrier triumph.
  • Dating back to Jan. 27, 2018, single digits have decided the last six games.
