Timmy Ley and junior
Vince D'Alto each had a hat trick, but the No. 13/12 Boston University men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season, a 13-10 setback at No. 15 Harvard on Tuesday night at Jordan Field.
D'Alto and Ley each added an assist to complete their four-point evenings as BU fell to 6-1 on the season. Junior
Louis Perfetto also had a four-point day, as dished out three assists in addition to his goal. Senior

Patrick Morrison recorded a career-high four caused turnovers and added a ground ball in a great effort on the defensive end. Sophomore
Dane DeGoler matched his career high with five ground balls in addition to his two caused turnovers, while senior
Will Carson and junior
Roy Meyer each recorded two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Senior goalkeeper
Matt Garber made several nice stops during his 12-save performance, with two of the 13 Crimson goals scored into open nets. He also gathered a career-best eight ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harvard scored the first two goals of the game, but Niedringhaus answered with 2:58 left in the frame to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- The teams then traded goals in the final two minutes, with Cates' 17th strike of the year with 13 seconds on the clock making it a 3-2 game after 15 minutes.
- BU twice tied the game in the second stanza thanks to goals from D'Alto and Ley, but Harvard responded each time to take a 5-4 lead into halftime.
- Perfetto's first goal of the night evened the score at 5-5 with 12:53 left in the third quarter.
- Harvard answered just 1:53 later to take a 6-5 lead.
- Ley tied it twice more, eventually making it an 7-7 game with 5:00 left in the quarter.
- Harvard scored the next three goals of the quarter, however, to take a 10-7 lead into the final 15 minutes.
- D'Alto and Quadrino brought BU within one with 12:48 to play, but the Crimson went on another three-goal run to make it 13-9 with 6:10 to go.
- Another D'Alto goal with 5:01 created the final score.
GAME NOTES
- Tuesday marked the first time BU has given up the first goal and the first time the Terriers have trailed since Feb. 19.
- Ley extended his goal scoring streak to 29 straight games with his hat trick.
- Perfetto and D'Alto extended their point streaks to 24Â games and 22Â games, respectively, and have yet to be held without a point in their Terrier careers.
- D'Alto leads BU in goals (20) and points (34) while Perfetto now leads BU with 15 assists.
- The Terriers entered Tuesday averaging an NCAA-best 12.33 caused turnovers per game and combined for 15 caused turnovers.
- BU entered the night with the second-ranked ride in the NCAA and forced five failed clears by the Crimson.
