BOSTON - Paced by an career-best nine-point day from senior
Timmy Ley, the No. 14 Boston University men's lacrosse team posted an impressive 17-9 victory over visiting Navy on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
BU scored the game's first eight goals and never looked back, staying perfect in Patriot League play at 5-0 while improving to 8-1 overall. The Terriers clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament with the win.
Ley had four goals and five assists while sophomore
Tommy Bourque also set a career high with four points on a career-best three goals and one assist. Junior
Vince D'Alto scored five goals while sophomore
Christian Quadrino scored one goal and distributed a career-high three assists. Senior
Jake Cates collected three points (2g, 1a) while junior

Conor Calderone had another terrific day at the faceoff X, as he went 19-for-26 with nine ground balls. Classmate
Jax Popovich won three of the game's final four faceoffs to complete a 22-of-30 afternoon at the X for BU. Junior
Roy Meyer led BU with four caused turnovers and also gathered five ground balls to lead the BU defense. Eight different Terriers combined for 11 caused turnovers.

Matt Garber stopped half of the 14 shots he faced in goal, marking the fourth time this season he has allowed seven goals or fewer. Freshman

Alex Gainey played the final 4:40 of the contest, with Gainey recording one save in his 2022 debut.
BU honored its Class of 2020 - Reece Eddy,
Nicholas Ellerton, Chase Levesque, Joe McSorley, Jared Nugent, Kaveh Torabian and Josh Williamson - on Saturday with a pregame and a halftime ceremony.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bourque scored the first two goals of the game, first finding the back of the net just a minute into the contest before converting a feed from Quadrino at 12:17.
- Jepson secured his first goal of the season at 6:49 of the first quarter, followed by a Cates strike just 18 seconds later to make it 4-0.
- Ley then tallied twice in a span of 30 seconds late in the quarter to make it a 6-0 game after 15 minutes.
- The Terriers extended their lead to 8-0 thanks to goals from Perfetto and D'Alto. Perfetto's goal that made it 7-0 began with a great caused turnover and ground ball from Meyer, who raced into the Navy zone and ended up with a hockey assist.
- Navy finally got on the board at 9:31 of the second quarter and added two more as part of a 3-0 run to cut the deficit to 8-3 with 4:25 left in the half.
- D'Alto gave BU the momentum heading into the break, however, as he scored with 37 seconds on the clock to make it 9-3 at the half.
- The Mids notched the first two goals of the third quarter, but BU went on a 3-0 run that began with a nifty Quadrino goal at 9:14. The Terriers continued to make the extra pass, with great ball movement leading to a Ley feed that Quadrino finished.
- Ley followed that assist with goals at 4:50 and 4:12 of the third to push the lead to 12-5.
- Navy stopped the run with a Nick Cole goal, but Bourque answered at 1:03 of the frame to make it 13-6 heading into the final 15 minutes.
- D'Alto and Navy's James Flannery traded goals to open the quarter before Cates began another 3-0 run with a man-up marker at 9:04.
- D'Alto added two goals in a span of 16 seconds to make it 17-7 with 4:59 remaining in regulation.
- Navy scored twice more in the final minutes to create the 17-9 final.
GAME NOTES
- Perfetto and D'Alto extended their point streaks to 26 games and 24 games, respectively, and have yet to be held without a point in their Terrier careers.
- Ley pushed his NCAA-best goal scoring streak to 31 games and is now four goals shy of reaching 100 for his career.
- D'Alto has scored 12 goals over the last two games and has found the back of the net in 22 straight games.
- Calderone is 51-for-60 at the faceoff X over the last two tilts.
- This was Meyer's fourth game with at least four caused turnovers; he now has a career-high 29 this season, just five shy of matching Reece Eddy's single-season record of 34 set in 2019.
- Meyer has recorded 11 ground balls and seven caused turnovers over the last two contests.
- Garber lowered his goals-against average to 8.99 and he also has a .583 save percentage.
- Jepson became the 17th Terrier to score a goal this season.
- BU won the ground ball battle, 42-27, and attempted 49 shots to just 29 for Navy.
- The Terrier ride forced eight failed clears, holding Navy to a 19-of-27 mark in the clearing game.
