April 28, 2022

BOSTON – Seeking its first Patriot League title, the fifth-seeded Boston University men's tennis team will open the conference tournament against No. 4 Bucknell on Friday with doubles set for a 10:15 a.m. start at the U.S. Naval Academy Tennis Courts.

The Terriers enter the event with a 2-4 mark against Patriot League competition. They most recently dropped 4-0 decisions to No. 2 seed Lehigh and No. 3 Army West Point last weekend following a 4-1 win at Holy Cross. They previously earned a 4-1 against No. 6 Colgate and fell on the road to both the Bison (4-0) and No. 1 Navy (4-0).

BU is 5-2 all-time in the PL quarterfinals after coming up just short at Lehigh last season, 4-3, and eliminating the Bison in 2019, 4-2.

Sophomore Jonah Dickson led BU during the spring with seven wins, including two at line 1 and three in the No. 2 slot. Both sophomore Ben Letzer and freshman Adrian Pawlowski collected five apiece between lines 4-6. Freshman Dion Loutas earned both of his wins during conference play in the No. 2 slot to help BU defeat both Colgate and Holy Cross.

In doubles action, the Terriers have tried nine different lineups. Pawlowski and sophomore Johann Sajonz have recorded six wins in the top spot, while Dickson and Loutas have teamed for three wins at line 2.

Friday's BU-Bucknell winner will advance to Saturday's semifinal matchup against either No. 1 Navy or No. 8 Holy Cross at 10 a.m.
