Davidson Upends Men's Basketball, 69-45

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Hitting the road for the fourth time in five contests, the Boston University men's basketball team fell at Davidson, 69-45, on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats (3-2) shot 47.5 percent from the field and posted a 41-29 advantage in rebounds to win the second-ever meeting with the Terriers (1-4).

Freshman Matai Baptiste hit a pair of 3-pointers en route to a team-high 10 points, while reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week Kyrone Alexander hauled in a game-high eight rebounds. Senior Miles Brewster tallied three steals and three assists alongside five points for BU.

Connor Kochera was a near-perfect 10-of-12 from the field to earn 23 points, and Grant Huffman was within striking distance of a triple-double with 10 points, seven boards, six assists and three steals. Reed Biley added 12 points and eight rebounds, while David Skogman posted nine points and seven rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • BU started off well offensively, hitting the first three shots off Alexander's jumper, Brewster's 3-pointer and sophomore Nico Nobili's driving layup for an early 7-4 lead.
  • Skogman though responded with a trey of his own to spark a 14-0 run capped by Bailey's turnaround jumper at 13:25.
  • Baptiste cut the deficit to single digits on the next possession with a 3-pointer, and freshman Seth Joyner pulled BU even closer, 22-16, at 7:19 on a layup.
  • Kochera flushed another 3-pointer 15 seconds later as part of a 14-2 run capped by Huffman's 3-pointer at 3:09.
  • Sophomore Otto Landrum scored the final three points over the last 80 seconds to enter the locker room down, 36-21.
  • Davidson jumped out of the gate with a 13-2 run to start the second half behind three treys.
  • Facing a 56-30 deficit with 14:15 remaining, BU clamped down defensively, holding the Wildcats to just one point over the next six minutes.
  • The Terriers though could not take advantage on the other end of the court, only cutting the deficit to as low as 18 points (57-39) with 10:30 remaining for the loss.
