Twelve Terriers Tally Points in 90-49 Victory over VTSU-Johnson

BOSTON – Continuing the Thanksgiving theme of sharing, the Boston University men's basketball team recorded a season-high 23 assists en route to a 90-49 wire-to-wire victory over Vermont State University Johnson on Sunday afternoon at Case Gym.

The Terriers (2-4) flushed 14 3-pointers and hauled in 43 rebounds to extend their active home win streak to five contests, while the Badgers dropped to 1-6 behind a season-low 35.6 percent shooting performance.

Junior Malcolm Chimezie (17 pts.), senior Miles Brewster (14 pts.), freshman Matai Baptiste (13 pts.) and freshman Spencer Joyner (10 pts.) all reached personal bests to help BU record 90+ points in back-to-back home games. Sophomore Ben Roy dished out a career-high five assists, with Brewster and junior Ethan Okwuosa recording four helpers apiece.

Raymond Baka led VTSU with 17 points, while Travis Baker had 12 points with seven rebounds. David Greer also nearly had a double-double with eight boards and seven points.

  • Roy later found Baptiste for a 3-pointer to put the lead above 19 points for the rest of the contest, 39-17, at 1:42.
  • Chimezie ended the half with a free throw and putback before the buzzer to enter the locker room ahead, 42-19.
  • Junior Ben Palacios drained his own 3-pointer to extend the lead to 58-28 at 13:27, and sophomore Otto Landrum hit a pair of free throws five minutes later for a 74-34 advantage.
  • Senior Andrew Patnode followed classmate Evan Haber's layup with a free throw to give BU 12 men with at least one point in the final two minutes of regulation.
