NEW ENGLAND – Continuing to add to their accolades from the 2023 campaign, Boston University women's soccer seniors Lily Matthews and Abigail McNulty have been selected to participate in the 2023 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division I Senior Bowl, the organization announced on Tuesday evening.
The NEWISA Senior Bowl brings together players from NCAA Division I, II and III colleges in New England for one final game following the conclusion of their last collegiate season. This year the NEWISA Senior Bowl will be held at 12 p.m. on Dec. 2, 2023, at Clark University's Granger Athletic Complex in Worcester, Mass.
NEWISA Senior Bowl eligibility is open to all players who will graduate from undergraduate studies during the 2023-2024 academic year and any graduate student playing a final season this current school year.
Matthews earns the invitation following a senior season where she registered one goal and four assists, the latter ranking second on the team. Tallying three assists against American on Oct. 21, she became the fourth Terrier in program history to achieve that feat.
Across her four-year career, Matthews started 58 of her 64 career matches, tallying three goals and eight assists for 14 points. She earned Third Team All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League Team honors in 2022, following a Second Team All-Patriot League pick as a sophomore.
Starting all 11 of her appearances in 2023, McNulty racked up four goals and two assists, all against Patriot League competition, to capture First Team All-Patriot League recognition. She ranked second during league play with 1.67 points per game and those four goals.
Throughout her Terrier tenure, McNulty has totaled 10 goals and 14 assists for 34 points across 54 matches. She is a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection, and garnered a United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Second Team selection in 2021.
