
No. 5 BU Heads Back to TD Garden Friday for Hockey East Semifinal against Providence

The fifth-ranked and top-seeded Boston University men's ice hockey team will continue its quest for a 10th Hockey East title on Friday when the Terriers travel to TD Garden for a semifinal showdown with Providence. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU booked its ticket to the semifinals with a 7-3 win over Vermont last weekend at Agganis Arena, a victory that extended the Terriers' win streak to five games.
- Junior Nick Zabaneh was named Hockey East Player of the Week after he recorded his first collegiate hat trick in the win.
- Zabaneh's linemates, freshman Jeremy Wilmer and junior Dylan Peterson, each recorded three assists.
- Senior Wilmer Skoog scored two goals and freshman Quinn Hutson also lit the lamp.
- On Wednesday, freshman Lane Hutson was named Hockey East Rookie of the Year and also announced as one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award.
- Hutson leads all Hockey East skaters with 44 points thanks to 12 goals and a league-high 32 assists.
- He ranks fifth in the NCAA in assists and is first among NCAA defensemen in both assists per game and points per game.
- Senior Matt Brown enters the weekend ranked second in Hockey East with 43 points thanks to 15 goals and 28 assists, all of which were career highs.
- First-year head coach Jay Pandolfo was selected as Hockey East Coach of the Year after guiding the Terriers to a 24-10-0 regular-season record, including an 18-6-0 mark in league play.
- BU and Providence last met on March 3-4, with the Terriers sweeping a home-and-home series with a 6-4 victory at Agganis and a 2-0 win in Rhode Island thanks to a 39-save shutout by junior Drew Commesso.
- If the Terriers end up facing Merrimack in the title game, they will have faced each of their final three regular-season opponents in the playoffs.

- BU and Providence first met in the 1926-27 season and have played 193 times since that encounter, with the Terriers leading the series, 115-59-19 (.645).
- BU is 20-8-6 against Providence in their past 34 meetings, including a 9-4-6 record over the last 19 contests.
- The Terriers have won nine straight March games against Providence, including the weekend sweep earlier this month.

- Providence advanced to the semifinals thanks to a pair of 2-1 overtime wins.
- The Friars defeated New Hampshire at home in the opening round on March 8 before besting third-seeded Northeastern in Boston this past Saturday.
- Freshman Brady Berard's first collegiate goal won the game against the Huskies.
- Senior Parker Ford, who leads Providence with 26 points, scored his team-leading 12th goal of the year at Northeastern.
- Senior Max Crozier leads PC with 21 assists and is tied with junior Brett Berard (10g, 14a) for second on the squad with 24 points.
- Brett Berard notched a goal and an assist in the Friars' 6-4 loss to BU on March 3.
- Freshman goaltender Philip Svedebäck is 14-10-7 in 33 appearances, posting a .909 save percentage and a 2.19 goals-against average.
- He allowed two goals at BU on March 3 before leaving the game and did not start the season finale against the Terriers.
- Svedebäck has stopped 47 of 49 shots in his two playoff wins this season.
- If BU wins, the Terriers will play the winner of Friday's second semifinal between second-seeded Merrimack and fifth-seeded UMass Lowell on Saturday at TD Garden.
