Women's Tennis Comes Up Short at CSUN, 4-3

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Boston University women's tennis team (7-3, 1-0 PL) dropped a tough 4-3 decision to CSUN on Monday. In the loss, the Terriers grabbed the point on three singles courts.

The Matadors (6-2) swept the doubles point, but not without a fight from BU. The Terriers won a combined 11 games to keep the doubles point closely contested before it went to CSUN.

In singles, junior Kaitlin Tan was first to win on Court 4. She did so in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, to give BU its first point of the match. Sophomore Michelle Kleynerman won her match at the No. 2 spot shortly thereafter in a 6-1, 6-2 decision.

BU led 2-1 before CSUN could climb back and earn wins in the Nos. 3, 5 and 6 spots to seal the victory. At the top of the lineup, grad student Shelly Yaloz won her first set 6-1 but dropped the second set 6-4. She found her groove again to emerge with the win after taking the final set 6-3.

The Terriers will be back in action on Tuesday when they continue their trip to California at Cal State Fullerton. The match is set to start at 4:30 p.m. ET.
