FULLERTON, Calif. – Thanks to securing the doubles point and earning four wins in singles, the Boston University women's tennis team (8-3, 1-0 PL) defeated Cal State Fullerton (6-4, 2-0 Big West), 5-2, on Tuesday evening. 
 
BU was quick to get the doubles point with efficient wins in the Nos. 3 and 2 spots, respectively. Junior Victoria Carlsten and freshman Emily Zhao teamed up at the No. 3 spot to win 6-1 while sophomore Michelle Kleynerman and grad student Shelly Yaloz clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win of their own.
 
The Terriers secured the first singles point with a 6-4, 6-0 win on Court 4 thanks to junior Kaitlin Tan. The Titans got on the board next with a win at the No. 5 spot, but BU soon decided the fate of the match. Kleynerman's efficient 6-1, 6-1 win on Court 2 and Yaloz's 6-4, 6-3 victory at the top of the lineup propelled the Terriers to take the match. On the two remaining courts, both the Terriers and the Titans picked up one additional point to bring the final score to BU 5, Cal State Fullerton 2.
 
BU will continue its California slate on Thursday (March 9) when it faces Long Beach State. First serve is set for 5 p.m. ET.
