BOSTON – Seeking its first Patriot League title, the third-seeded Boston University men's tennis team will open the conference tournament against No. 6 Colgate on Friday with doubles set for a 1:15 p.m. start at the J.W. Abrahamson Tennis Courts.
The Terriers enter the event with a 4-2 mark against Patriot League competition this year with 4-0 sweeps over No. 9 Holy Cross, No. 6 Colgate and No. 5 Bucknell. They previously claimed a 4-2 victory over No. 4 Lehigh and came up just short to the top two seeds, Navy and Army West Point, by identical scores of 4-2.
BU is 5-3 all-time in the PL quarterfinals after dropping hard-fought 4-3 decisions each of the last two years to Lehigh (2022) and Bucknell (2021). The Terriers will be the No. 3 seed for the third time after posting a 4-3 victory in 2015 against the Mountain Hawks and falling to the Bison, 4-3, in 2016. BU last reached the semifinals in 2019 as the No. 5 seed by edging Bucknell, 4-2.
