BOSTON – Boosted by nine extra-base hits, the Boston University softball team opened the final home regular season series with a doubleheader sweep over Army West Point on Friday afternoon.
The Terriers (45-7, 14-0 PL) run-ruled the Black Knights (17-33, 7-7 PL) in game one, 9-1, and withstood two homers in game two for a 5-4 decision. Now on a 25-game active win streak, BU has set both a program and Patriot League record in wins while remaining unbeaten in conference play.

Caitlin Coker went a near-perfect 5-for-6 at the plate and junior
Lauren Keleher finished 4-for-7 to help BU more than triple Army in hits, 22-7. In the circle, senior

GAME 1: BU - 9, Army - 1 (6 inn.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boaz earned two strikeouts to end the top of the first, and BU stranded both Keleher (single) and Coker (walk) on base in the bottom half.
- Keleher and Roncin delivered back-to-back doubles to start the third to grab a 1-0 advantage.
- Graduate student Nicole Amodio added another double to plate junior Lauren Nett to extend the lead to 2-0 in the fourth.
- Boaz recorded four and a third no-hit innings before the Black Knights launched the first pitch in the fifth toward left to the cut the deficit in half.
- The Terriers put the game away with five runs off five hits, including back-to-back doubles from Roncin and Coker that extended the lead to 4-1.
- Freshman Brooke Deppiesse earned a two-run single, and junior Kate Pryor added an RBI double for the 7-1 advantage.
- BU loaded the bases in the sixth with a walk and pair of one-out singles before both Deppiesse and Nett recorded back-to-back RBIs to walk off with the 9-1 win.
GAME 2: BU - 5, Army - 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coker gave BU the lead for good in the bottom of the first by tripling to left to plate Keleher (single) and scoring on graduate student Emily Gant's RBI single through the right side.
- After Deppiesse threw out all three Black Knights from second in the top half of the second, Pryor (walk), Amodio (double) and Sellers (walk) loaded the bases to start the bottom half.
- Both Keleher and Roncin put the ball on the ground to double the lead to 4-0.
- Ricard struck out the side in the top of the third, and Keleher plated Deppiesse after the bases were loaded during the bottom half to move ahead, 5-0.
- The Black Knights scored the next four runs, first earning a two-out RBI single in the fourth and then a two-out, two-run homer in the fifth to pull within two, 5-3.
- Avery entered the game in relief in the sixth and went on to retire the next four Black Knights before Army added its third homer of the day in the top of the seventh.
- Avery bounced back with a strikeout and ground out to seal the 5-4 victory.
