Army West Point Holds Off Men's Tennis, 4-2

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Unable to mount a second consecutive rally, the Boston University men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision at Army West Point on Sunday afternoon.

The Black Knights (18-10, 6-0 PL) won two tightly-contested doubles matches for the first point and then captured three singles points, including two in straight sets, to fend off the Terriers (11-11, 3-2 PL), who had their three-match win streak snapped.

In doubles play, Army earned identical scores of 6-4 on the No. 2 and 3 courts to grab an early lead. 2022 All-Patriot League First Team honoree AJ Woodman added to the Black Knights lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the top slot, while 2022 All-Conference Second Team member Samuel Eden earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory at line 4.

BU's two freshmen tried to mount a rally. Corey Craig rolled to a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 2 slot, and classmate Alejandro Licea bounced back from losing the first to claim a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 come-from-behind victory on the No. 3 court.

The Black Knights' Samuel Haikal sealed the win by outlasting junior Jonah Dickson at line 6 in a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 decision.

BU will wrap the regular season against Holy Cross on Friday (April 14) with a 3:30 p.m. start.
