PHILADELPHIA – Junior
Daniel Kim earned an 11th-minute goal and senior
Francesco Montali collected one save, as the Boston University men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory at Saint Joseph's.
With their first shutout of the season, the Terriers improve to 2-1, while the Hawks drop to 0-3. Both graduate student

Andrew Rent earned an assist to help Kim become the third Terrier to find the back of the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rent put the Hawks on notice at 6:39 when he ripped a hard shot toward the upper right corner from the top of the box and forced Trevor Jackson to use outstretched arms for the save.
- Patrick Vani nearly gave SJU the lead in the ninth minute when he made a run into the box from the right side and slid the ball past a diving Montali right off the far post.
- BU took the lead for good two minutes later when Innes launched a long pass from midfield toward a running Rent, who centered the ball toward the box for a quick shot by Kim.
- Kim forced Jackson to make another save at 24:35, and Rent had his attempt blocked at 30:43.
- Innes nearly earned a second assist in the waning minutes as he slid the ball through a defender's legs while dropping to the ground to sophomore Alex Bonnington, who was just wide left on the pressured shot attempt from 12 yards out.
- BU entered the locker room with a 6-3 lead in shots having attempted all four corners.
- SJU came out attacking, blasting a shot wide left 13 seconds into the second half and earning their first corner a minute later.
- After the teams exchanged headers over the crossbar, Innes fired a shot saved by Jackson at 51:47.
- Mikkel Andersen ripped a low shot from 30 yards out, but Montali was in position to smother the attempt for his lone save.
- SJU earned two more corners and made a final charge in the last 20 seconds, but the backline blocked Fletcher Caponecchia's attempt in the middle of the box to seal the shutout.
