TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU improved to 3-0-0 with a 4-2 win over UConn in Friday's Hockey East opener at Agganis Arena.
  • The Terriers then skated to a 2-2 tie in Saturday's exhibition game against Harvard before winning the shootout thanks to goals from junior Quinn Hutson in the third round and sophomore Jack Harvey in the fifth round.
  • Freshman Cole Eiserman was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday after scoring a career-high two goals in Friday's win, including the eventual game-winner.
  • Eiserman has lit the lamp in all three games for BU, including three power-play goals, and enters the weekend ranked second in Hockey East with four goals.
  • No other rookie has scored more goals than Eiserman this season.
  • In fact, Eiserman is just the second Terrier since at least 2002-03 to score four goals in his first three collegiate games, joining Shane Bowers (2017-18).
  • Among NCAA goalies who have played in at least three games, senior Mathieu Caron ranks fourth in save percentage (.947) and sixth in goals-against average (1.67).
  • No Hockey East goaltender who has played three games boasts a better save percentage than Caron.
  • BU is one of just three teams in the nation to be at both 30% or higher on the power play and at 90% or better on the penalty kill so far this season.
  • The Terriers are 3-0-0 for the first time since the 2014-15 team won its first four games.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Terriers are 12-13-2 against North Dakota in 27 all-time meetings, but BU is 5-1-1 in its past seven encounters with the Fighting Hawks.
  • This weekend's series will feature the fifth and sixth straight top-10 matchups between the two storied programs dating back to 2015.
  • BU and North Dakota played two games at Agganis last November, with the Terriers taking game one, 3-2, before the Fighting Hawks escaped with a 5-4 overtime win the next night.
  • The Terriers last played the Fighting Hawks in North Dakota during the 2017 NCAA Regional in Fargo, earning a 4-3, double-overtime victory in the regional semifinal.
  • BU last visited Ralph Englestad Arena on Nov. 2-3, 2012, with each team earning a 4-2 win.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING HAWKS

  • North Dakota is 2-1-0 after splitting a weekend series at No, 20 Minnesota State on Oct. 18-19 and defeating then-No. 13/11 Providence, 5-2, in Grand Forks on Oct. 12.
  • Last weekend, the Fighting Hawks earned a 3-2 win on Friday before falling to the Mavericks, 3-0, the next night.
  • Senior Cameron Berg (2g, 2a) and freshman Sacha Boisvert (1g, 3a) pace the Fighting Hawks with four points apiece.
  • Boisvert leads the team with three assists while Berg and junior Dylan James are the only Fighting Hawks with two goals to their name.
  • Graduate student T.J. Semptimphelter is 2-0-0 with a .918 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average.
  • Sophomore Hobie Hedquist started Saturday's 3-0 loss, posting a .923 save percentage and allowing just two goals.
  • BU has faced Semptimphelter once before when he was with Northeastern as a freshman.
  • The Terriers defeated Semptimphelter and the Huskies, 1-0, in the 2022 Beanpot title game.
UP NEXT
  • After this weekend's games, BU will return to Agganis Arena for a two-game series with No. 10/11 Michigan on Nov. 1-2.
