BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Seven Boston University women's soccer student-athletes were named to the three All-Patriot League teams following the end of the 2024 regular season, the league announced on Friday afternoon.
BU placed a pair on the first team in juniors
Giulianna Gianino and
Margy Porta at midfielder and forward, respectively. Senior forward
Morgan Fagan as well as juniors
Mackenzie Stickelman (midfield) and
Helene Tyburczy (defense) garnered second team recognition. On the third team, senior defender
Allison Hanlon and freshman goalkeeper
Bridget Carr received honors.
The Terriers tied Army West Point to pace the Patriot League with seven selections. Both schools, in addition to Bucknell, were the only three schools to boast student-athletes on all three teams. BU and Army had multiple selections on each team.
GIULIANNA GIANINO – FIRST TEAM
- Gianino collects first team honors in back-to-back seasons, and has garnered All-Patriot League recognition in all three seasons.
- She paced the Terriers with eight goals and four assists for 20 points, becoming the first Terrier since 2011 to reach the 20-point plateau.
- The Norwell, Mass. native was named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week twice in the regular season on Aug. 19 and Sept. 30.
- Gianino has 45 career points in a Terrier uniform, tied for 13th in program history.
MARGY PORTA – FIRST TEAM
- This marks Porta's first career All-Patriot League selection.
- She broke out with career-highs of seven goals and 15 points, both ranking second on the team.
- Eleven of her 15 points came against Patriot League foes, including a brace against Lehigh on Sept. 28.
- Porta is tied for fifth in the conference with her seven goals and 15 points.
MORGAN FAGAN – SECOND TEAM
- Fagan captures All-Patriot League honors for the third straight season, building on her second team appearance in 2023.
- The senior started all 18 regular season matches for BU, tallying a goal and an assist.
- Her score against Lehigh on Sept. 28 proved to be the game winner in an eventual 6-1 triumph.
- Fagan is 20th in the Terrier record books with 37 career points.
MACKENZIE STICKELMAN – SECOND TEAM
- Stickelman is an All-Patriot League honoree for the second time, improving on her third team distinction as a sophomore.
- Like Fagan, she also supplied a goal and an assist, starting in 16 of her 17 appearances.
- The Long Island product played over 1,000 minutes to help the Terrier defense allow multiple goals just twice in Patriot League play with a 0.89 goals-against average.
- In her career, Stickelman has posted four goals, two assists, and 10 points.
HELENE TYBURCZY – SECOND TEAM
- Tyburczy's selection is her first all-conference award in her collegiate tenure, arriving in her first season at BU.
- Starting in 15 of the Terriers' 18 matches in 2024, she racked up over 1,350 minutes. She played the full 90 minutes in 11 of those contests.
- The Ramsey, N.J. native helped guide a BU backline to three shutouts in Patriot League play, which helped the team record a conference best 1.22 scoring margin in such matches.
- Tyburczy is one of two Terrier defenders to receive All-Patriot League recognition.
ALLISON HANLON – THIRD TEAM
- Hanlon is the other defender to garner recognition; it is her first All-Patriot League honor.
- After starting five of her 29 appearances in her first three seasons, she set career bests with 16 starts in 18 contests.
- Logging 1,440 minutes, she did not leave the pitch in eight matches.
- Across her career, Hanlon has appeared in 47 games with over 2,200 minutes.
BRIDGET CARR – THIRD TEAM
- Carr is the lone Terrier rookie to receive All-Patriot League honors this season, and is the first freshman to achieve the feat since Gianino was a second team pick in 2022.
- The netminder recorded a 1.09 goals-against average and .774 save percentage across 12 appearances, 10 of which were starts.
- Playing every minute against league foes, her 0.89 goals-against average and .818 save percentage ranked in the top-four across the conference.
- With Carr's selection, a Terrier goalkeeper has earned a third team spot in consecutive years.
