BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Sophomore
Karsen Vesty was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league announced Friday morning.
Vesty joins six other Patriot League runners on the squad after he finished 23rd with a personal-best 24:35.1 time at the Patriot League Cross Country Championships. On top of his athletic achievement, Vesty has accumulated a 3.96 GPA as he pursues a degree in mechanical engineering.
The Havelock North, New Zealand native was the third finisher for the Terriers a the PL Championships. He also ran a 24:56.7 at the Princeton Fall Classic and finished fifth at the UMass Dartmouth Invite with a 25:08.2 time. This is his first time making the All-PL Academic Team.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
