Celebrini Named to National Rookie of the Year Award Watch List

BOSTON - Freshman Macklin Celebrini of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named to the watch list for the Tim Taylor Award as National Rookie of the Year, the Hockey Commissioners Association.
Celebrini, the youngest player in college hockey at just 17 years old, has been fantastic for the Terriers this season. He ranks fourth overall and first among NCAA rookies with 1.59 points per game. Celebrini has tallied 35 points (18g, 17a) in 22 games, which is tied for second in Hockey East, tied for second among national rookies and tied for fourth overall in the country. In fact, Celebrini is one of just five players since the 2005-06 season to score 18 goals in his first 22 career games.
The Vancouver native was named Hockey East Player of the Month and National Rookie of the Month in October after recording multiple points in five of his first six games. He notched a career-best four points thanks to four assists in a 6-1 win over UMass Lowell on Nov. 11 and has recorded at least three points on two other occasions. He led Canada in scoring at the World Junior Championship with four goals and four assists for eight points, then followed that by notching seven points (6g, 1a) over his first four games back with the Terriers. Celebrini enters the weekend having scored a goal in seven of his last nine appearances.
