BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team (3-0, 0-0 PL) posted a 18-13 win over Iona at Nickerson Field on Saturday afternoon.

BU scored first and never dropped the lead, outpacing Iona in the first and fourth quarters on its way to the win. The Terriers improve to 3-0 on the season with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers went up 2-0 with an even strength goal from Stevenson and a free position goal from Jones.
- Iona netted its first of the game after a turnover from BU with 10:13 to go in the first.
- Walsh found Tick who scored to swing the momentum back in BU's favor at the 8:15 mark.
- BU added two goals late in the first with Walsh's first of the day and Jones' second on the free position to help BU lead 5-1 at the end of the quarter.
- Iona was served a yellow card at the end of the first leading to a woman-up goal from Stevenson to start the second.
- The Gaels added two but the Terriers answered with two of their own thanks to Walsh on the free position and Stevenson on a feed from Tick.
- Iona scored its fourth on a woman-up opportunity with 7:11 to go and Stevenson responded with a woman-up goal of her own, assisted by Walsh.
- The Gaels added three goals before the close of the half to BU's one from Cotraro as the Terriers led 10-7 with the first half complete.
- Both teams scored two goals apiece in the third with Tillier's first and Jones' third adding to BU's totals.
- Tillier and Hodgins each scored in the 11th minute in the fourth, separated by one Iona goal.
- Iona netted its 11th with 7:58 to go in the game.
- BU scored three unanswered goals as Tick found Cotraro first, then Tillier found Tick second before Tillier scored one on her own.
- Iona added its 12th but soon its goalkeeper was awarded a yellow card for a dangerous play.
- Jones found Tillier on the woman-up advantage who closed out the scoring for BU.
- The Gaels found the back of the net once more in the final two minutes to bring the final score to BU 18, Iona 13.
GAME NOTES
- BU narrowly outshot Iona 37 to 33.
- Aiosa made 10 saves to tie a career best.
- BU went 18-19 on clears while Iona was 17-20.
- Iona had 16 turnovers to BU's 13.
- The Terriers registered 17 draw controls while Iona registered 16.
