Cameron Repeats as PL 1-Meter Champion; Mitchell, Newman Reach Podium

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Senior Sumi Cameron successfully defended her title in the 1-meter dive while senior Lara Mitchell and sophomore Haley Newman earned podium finishes on the third day of the Patriot League Championships on Friday at Navy's Lejeune Hall.

Another highlight from Friday's finals was the 200-yard medley relay of Mitchell, senior Madison Kim, senior Sydney Sorbello and freshman Han Hoang, who topped their school record from the fall and finished third with a time of 1:32.29.

Cameron posted a score of 293.65 to hold off Navy's MacKenzie Kim to become the first diver to repeat as the Patriot League's 1-meter champ since Kyra Tatlow '18. Junior Marina Cataldo had the best PL finish of her career, placing fifth with a score of 253.85.

Mitchell earned a silver in the 100-yard backstroke for the second consecutive year, recording a time of 53.90. In the 400-yard individual medley, Newman added a bronze to her gold from last year, finishing in a time of 4:19.28.

The Terriers will enter the final day of meet in third place, 111 points ahead of fourth-place Bucknell. BU will be in search of its first top-three finish since 2016.

Senior Clarissa Hoyt made the first Patriot League individual A final of her career and took seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.03. Sorbello finished eighth in the 100 back final (57.04).

Junior Sasha Ramey was the Terriers' top performer in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing 13th in a time of 55.21. In the 200-yard freestyle, sophomore Stella Langenbach finished 12th at 1:51.77.

Prelims on Saturday (Feb. 24) will start at 10 a.m.
