PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Claiming its first victory against the Ivy League in over 17 years, the Boston University men's tennis team triumphed at Brown, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon.
The Terriers (9-4) earned their second 3+ match win streak of the season by capturing four singles points, including three in straight sets, against the Bears (3-11). Owner of a 5-2 home-opening win over Boston College, Brown swept BU in doubles by a combined score of 17-10 and earned two more singles points with the last one coming via three sets.
In singles play, junior
Dion Loutas dropped the fewest games with a dominating 6-3, 6-2 win at line 6. Senior
Jonah Dickson held off Zander Bravo in a second-set tiebreaker to earn a 6-2, 7-6(4) victory at line 4, while freshman
Gustavs Dambins finished with an extra break in both of his sets for a 6-4, 6-4 win on court No. 5.
Brown earned its first singles point with a 7-5, 6-3 decision at line 3, but three-time reigning PL Player of the Week
Corey Craig sealed the Terriers' victory by posting a 7-6(7), 3-6, 6-3, win in the top slot against former five-star recruit and fellow sophomore Noah Hernandez.
The Bears added one more point with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, win at line 2.
BU will next visit Harvard on Thursday (Feb. 29) with a 6 p.m. start time.
