Freshmen Shine as Terriers Defeat Colgate, 13-10

BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team (5-9, 1-6 PL) defeated Colgate (2-12, 2-5 PL) in a 13-10 outcome on Wednesday evening at Nickerson Field. The win, which is BU's first in conference play, keeps its Patriot League postseason hopes alive.

BU took an early 1-0 lead but was quickly answered by Colgate with a tie game. The Raiders were able to tie the game twice more through the first half, but BU never fell behind. The Terriers built to a four-goal lead twice in the third quarter before Colgate rallied early in the final frame to tie the game 10-10. BU did not give up and responded with three goals through the close of the game, including one on an open net, to earn its first Patriot League win of the season.

Freshmen Tessa Geddes and Alex Cutone led BU in goals with three each. Cutone also led the Terriers in points with five, a career best performance for the freshman. Juniors Abby Cotraro and Hannah Tillier each scored twice while senior Tobey Tick and juniors Raegan Bailey and Avery Jones all had one goal apiece. Tick and Cutone also logged two assists each.

Senior defender Ellen Monahan won three draw controls to bring her career total to 102. Freshman Natalie Aiosa made 10 saves between the posts for the fifth time this season.
