LAS VEGAS - Three future Boston University men's ice hockey players heard their names called on day two of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, which concluded on Saturday morning at Sphere.
Incoming freshmen Kamil Bednarik and Cole Hutson were chosen, as was Jack Pridham, who will join the program for the 2025-26 season. Hutson and Bednarik came off the board in the second round, as Hutson was chosen 43rd overall by the Washington Capitals before the New York Islanders picked Bednarik 61st overall. Pridham followed them in the third round, going 92nd overall to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Bednarik, Hutson and Pridham joined Cole Eiserman (No. 20) and first-overall pick Macklin Celebrini as Terriers to be drafted this weekend. Over 200 Terriers have now been drafted in program history. No other school had more players selected this weekend than BU.
Hutson, who will be teammates with brother Quinn this season at BU, set an NTDP record for career points by a defenseman with 119 (25g, 94a), including 51 points (15g, 36a) in 51 games in 2023-24. He also set a single-season NTDP record for points by a defenseman with 68 during the 2022-23 season.
Bednarik, who joins fellow Terrier and Team USA teammate Eiserman as a 2024 Islanders draft pick, recorded 65 points (26g, 39a) in 61 games for the United States this past season. He also notched 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points as a U17 player with the NTDP. Both Hutson and Bednarik won silver at the 2024 World Under-18 Championship.
Pridham totaled 48 points on 23 goals and 25 assists this past season with West Kelowna of the BCHL. The All-Rookie Team selection followed his impressive regular season by scoring eight goals and adding three assists for 11 points in 10 playoff games.
