BOSTON – Wrapping up a two-game road trip, the Boston University men's soccer team will visit in-state rival UMass Lowell on Sunday (Sept. 1) with a 6 p.m. start time.

The Terriers (0-0-2) are coming off ties against then-No. 9 New Hampshire (0-0) and most recently Northeastern (1-1) this past Tuesday, while the River Hawks most recently rolled to a 3-0 win at Saint Peter's.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU has started a season with two ties for the first time in 76 seasons thanks to last year's removal of regular season overtime play by the NCAA. The 2000 squad was the last one to start a season tied at the end of regulation in the first two contests, posting a 3-2 2OT win vs. Syracuse and a 4-3 2OT loss to Boston College.
  • Preseason All-PL member and junior Quin DeLaMater owns BU's lone goal so far after intercepting a pass at Northeastern and driving across the field to fire a shot past the keeper in the first half.
  • Preseason All-PL honoree and senior Andrew Rent is tied with freshman Dylan Williams at two shots apiece with Rent forcing a save both times.
  • DeLaMater, senior Kevin Torres and graduate student Andrew Wike are the only Terriers to have played all 180 minutes.
  • Wike owns a .909 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average with a shutout against then-No. 9 New Hampshire.
  • Opponents own a 23-12 advantage in shots through two games with a 15-3 lead in corner kicks.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
  • The River Hawks are 2-0-1 with a 2-0 home victory against Central Connecticut State and 1-1 draw vs. Lafayette following last year's 2-11-3 campaign that included a 0-5-2 home mark.
  • Five UML players have scored a goal with Oliver Holmstrom striking twice off four shot attempts. Three other River Hawks have earned an assist.
  • JR Gawel has played all 270 minutes at net with a 0.33 goals against average and .923 save percentage.
  • UML is doubling opponents in shot attempts, 49-24, despite having a 11-11 tie in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 5-4-0, after claiming a 2-1 home victory last season.
  • The Terriers struck first in the 39th minute and took advantage of a UML own goal two minutes later with the River Hawks heading in a corner kick early in the second half.
  • UML won the last two meetings at home by a combined score of 4-1 with a 2-1 double OT victory in 2019.
LOOKING AHEAD
  • BU will return to Nickerson Field for a three-game homestand.
  • The Terriers will host a pair of West Coast squads, starting with the first ever meeting against Saint Mary's on Thursday (Sept. 5) at 4 p.m.
  • BU will also host Santa Clara for the first time next Sunday (Sept. 8) and then start Patriot League play against Army West Point on Saturday, Sept. 14.
