TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU swept a home-and-home series against Merrimack last weekend, taking the first game 3-2 in overtime and the second contest 5-4 on the road.
- Sophomore Cole Hutson, the reigning National Defender of the Month, was the overtime hero in the first game on Friday, potting his fourth goal of the season just 21 seconds into the extra frame.
- The Terriers would only force overtime with 3:30 to go, as freshman Jack Murtagh notched the tying goal. Freshman Jonathan Morello was the other scorer for the Terriers.
- The Terriers would strike first just 36 seconds into the second thanks to a Gavin McCarthy goal.
- In Saturday's contest, BU got ahead to a 3-0 lead as junior captain Gavin McCarthy, Hutson and freshman Ryder Ritchie potted goals.
- Merrimack would answer with two tallies in the second period.
- Senior Owen McLaughlin scored in the third and sophomore Jack Harvey added an empty-net strike to make it 5-2.
- The Warriors would add two more goals to keep it close in the final three minutes, but BU prevailed 5-4.
- Sophomore Sacha Boisvert notched a career-high four assists in the win Saturday — that also signified a career high in points with four.
- For his efforts, he was named Hockey East Player of the Week. He is the only Hockey East player to notch four assists in a game this season.
- Sophomore goaltender Mikhail Yegorov stopped 50 of 56 shots over the weekend.
- On Thursday McCarthy was named to the U.S. Collegiate Selects roster for the upcoming Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, from Dec. 26-31, 2025.
- He will be the first Terrier to take part in the event since Dante Fabbro dressed for Team Canada in the 2018 Spengler Cup.
- BU and Quinnipiac have met just five times, with the Terriers owning a 4-1 advantage over the Bobcats.
- The last meeting between the teams was a top-five matchup in 2023, as the then-No. 3 Terriers toppled the then-No. 5 Bobcats, 3-2, at Agganis Arena.
- Down 2-0 in the third period, the Terriers stormed back for a win thanks to a goal from current Bobcat Jeremy Wilmer and two goals from current Chicago Blackhawk Ryan Greene.
- The Terriers are 2-0 at M&T Bank Arena, with the last contest played between the two teams in Hamden coming on Oct. 8, 2017.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
- The Bobcats currently sport a 6-3-2 record and are 1-1-0 in the ECAC.
- Last weekend, they opened conference play with a 4-2 loss at Yale and a 4-3 overtime win over Brown on the road.
- In the win, former Terrier Jeremy Wilmer scored the game-winning goal in overtime. He also notched an assist.
- Wilmer and sophomore forward Chris Pelosi own the team's goals lead with six each, while freshman Ethan Wyttenbach leads the Bobcats in points with 12.
- The Bobcats rank 26th in the country in scoring offense entering the weekend with 3.18 goals per game, but have the 14th-ranked defense in the country, only allowing 2.27 goals per game.
- Head coach Rand Pecknold is in his 32nd year at the helm of the program.
- Junior goaltender Matej Marinov has made seven starts this season.
- He owns a 2.22 GAA and an .899 save percentage.
