LEWISBURG, Pa. - Led by two top-four performances from freshmen in the 1650-yard freestyle, the Boston University men's swimming & diving team had a strong final day at the Patriot League Championships on Saturday at Kinney Natatorium
In their PL debuts,
Giovanni Sullo and
Charles Schreiner placed third and fourth in the mile with personal-best times of 15:21.69 and 15.23.71. Sophomore Zein Mahan took sixth in the 3-meter dive with a score of 291.35 and senior
Andy Carlson placed 10th in his final race, touching the wall in a lifetime-best of 2:00.22 in the 200 breast.Â
Those efforts helped the Terriers post a total of 625.5 points to finish in fifth place for the fifth straight time at the league meet.Â
BU had four top-20 finishes in the 200-yard back with a cluster led by sophomore
Jonny Farber, who placed 15th in a time of 1:49.05 followed by junior
Tony Ponomarev (16th, 1:50.71), senior
Keegan Duffy (17th, 1:48.84) and freshman
Bradley Watters (19th, 1:49.41). Duffy and freshman
Galen Carter (23rd, 1:52.12) each recorded personal bests in the process.
Freshman
Charlie Nenchev (45.28) and sophomore
David Kohan (45.61) finished 21st and 22nd, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle.
In addition to Carlson's strong closing swim, fellow senior
Nathan Herman took 13th in the 200 breast and junior
Jackson Hogue placed 19th (2:03.81).
Freshman
Diego Rosario was dominant start to finish in the C final of the 200-yard butterfly, winning it in a personal-best time of 1:47.71 while sophomore
Evan Liu was right behind in 18th with his top time ever - 1:49.24.

Dolan Grisbaum closed out his collegiate career with 13th-place finish in the mile, recording a 15:44.42
