WORCESTER, Mass. – In its first races outside the Charles River in the 2025 spring slate, the Boston University men's rowing program swept all three events in its races against Temple and Holy Cross on Saturday morning, while also competing against Hobart and Marist.
 
BU's Varsity 8+ ranked 12th in the nation in the most recent IRCA/IRA Coaches Poll, squared off against No. 17 Temple and No. 18 Holy Cross. The Owls battled the Terriers, but BU, coxed by Emily Slawin and stroked by Hurst Thompson, was victorious with a time of 6:08.60, nearly three seconds ahead of Temple and nearly 12 seconds in front of the Crusaders.
 
The Terrier Second Varsity 8+, coxed by James Smith and stroked by Ali El Sayed, also took first place after crossing the line in 6:20.30, a 7.26-second advantage over runner-up Temple.
 
BU's Third Varsity 8+, coxed by Hannah Noguchi and stroked by Wynant Hubbard, posted the largest advantage of the day in its race. While Holy Cross, Hobart and Temple locked into a battle for first place, the Terriers were first in 6:17.44. The Crusaders were next to finish over 14 seconds later in 6:31.51.
 
The Terriers return to the water next week for the Lake Morey Invite from April 26-27 in Fairlee. Vt. BU will take on Wisconsin, Columbia, Syracuse and Georgetown with three cups at stake: the Jablonic, Lusins and Conlan Cups.
