DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The Boston University cross country program recorded two first-place finishes at the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
The men finished with 60 points in their 8K race, besting the next team by 38 places to secure its first meet win of the year.
Senior
Tucker Bowerfind was the top Terrier in the win, finishing in 24:18.83 and taking third place behind two Holy Cross runners. Next across the line was
Karsen Vesty, who posted a mark of 24:32.39, good for sixth place. Sophomore
James American Horse notched an eighth-place finish with a 24:42.78 mark and rounding out the top five were two freshmen:
Justin Ruiz, who took 19
th with a 25:09.21 time, and
Greg Poisson, who finished 24
th with a 25:14.83 mark.
On the women's side, the squad earned 35 points to champion the 6K race.
Abby Waddington crossed the line in 21:15.83 to earn second place overall. She was followed by classmate Ola Szulska in fourth, who finished in 21:29.92. Junior Abi Hahn was the next Terrier over the line, as she clocked a 21:42.78 time and earned seventh. Senior captain Samantha Seabury finished 10
th with a mark of 21:49.69 and the top five was rounded out by junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable's mark of 21:50.33, good for 12
th place.
Next up, the Terriers hit the road for the Paul Short Run at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. That race will run on Oct. 3, with the men's race kicking off at 11 a.m. and the women at 11:45 a.m.
