BOXSCORE

BOSTON - For the first time in three seasons, the B.U. women's basketball team took a team to overtime and won, defeating Albany, 77-71, at Case Gymnasium on Thursday night (Jan. 24).

The last time the Terriers prevailed in overtime was on December 19, 1999 in a 61-59 win at New Hampshire.

Junior guard Alison Argentieri (Hornell, NY) scored six of her 17 points in the overtime period as B.U. improved to 10-7 on the season and 3-3 in America East play.

"Argentieri had a really great game," said Terrier head coach Margaret McKeon. "Her performance, 17 points and six assists, is tops for a Division I point guard."

After trading the lead 13 times in the second half, the Terriers looked to pull away with the win in regulation as freshman forward Adrienne Norris (Delafield, WI) grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back to give B.U. a 59-58 advantage with 41 seconds left in the game.

But Albany's Becky Ayers hit one of her four three-pointers to put the Great Danes up, 61-59, with 24 seconds to go.

On a play designed to give Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ), the league's leading scorer, an open three-pointer for the win, Terhune instead fed the ball inside to sophomore guard Marisa Moseley (Longmeadow, MA), who sunk a turnaround jumper to send the game to overtime.

With the Terriers leading, 70-69, midway through the extra session, Norris grabbed a Terhune miss and made the put back despite a hard foul from Danielle Hutcheson. Norris converted on the three-point play, as B.U. led 73-69 with 1:32 to go in overtime and went on to win their second-consecutive conference game.

"A year or two ago, we would have never won a game like this," said McKeon. "A win like this gives us a ton of confidence."

Terhune led all scorers with 24 points, scoring the Terriers first 12 points to open the game.

Norris had 16 points to go along with her team-high eight rebounds. Moseley was the fourth Terrier in double figure scoring, adding 12 points.

"Adrienne, Alison, and Mo really rose to the challenge tonight," said McKeon.

Jess McGinlay paced the Great Danes, scoring 21 points while grabbing eight rebounds.

The Great Danes out-rebounded the Terriers, 52-38, with Hutcheson grabbing a game-high 11 boards. But the Terriers had the advantage defensively, forcing Albany to make 32 turnovers, including 20 in the first half. .
