PROVIDENCE, R. I. - The Boston University field hockey team fell to Brown University at the Bears' Warner Roof on Sunday, Sept. 14. Junior forward Kara Rossi (North Salem, N. Y. / North Salem) scored the Terriers' goal.
It was the third game in five days for the Terriers, who split with Boston College, a 1-0 double-overtime loss on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and Massachusetts, a 6-1 victory yesterday.
Injuries took their toll during the course of the game, including sophomore forward Caitlyn Cassara (North Caldwell, N. J. / West Essex), who left the game midway through the first half with a badly bleeding broken nose.
Brown (3-1) scored two goals in the first half, as senior Molly Carleton tallied a goal off of her own rebound 7:20 into the game. Fellow senior Lizzie Buza added a goal at the 27:49 mark to give Brown a 2-0 lead.
Boston University (3-2) scored its only goal of the game with seven minutes left as senior midfielder Dalinda Banuelos (Escondido, Calif. / San Pasqual) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season to cut the Bears' lead to 2-1. Brown sealed the victory with less than a minute left in regulation, as senior Laurel Pierpont posted the Bears' third and final goal of the game.
The Terriers had the better of the statistics, bettering the Bears in shots, 14-12, and in corners, 10-5. Boston University's redshirt freshman goalkeeper Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa. / Souderton Area) made four saves, while Brown's Kathryn Noe had six stops in the win.
Boston University next hosts Yale University on Sunday, Sept. 21. Game time at MIT's Jack Barry Field is 1 p.m.
