RESULTS
BOSTON - Sophomore Phil Putis (Chelmsford, MA) won the developmental 1500 meter run to anchor a strong Terrier effort at the Duke Invitational on April 2-3.
Putis was one of three Terriers to earn a Top 10 finish in the event, winning the race in a time of 3:55.87. Senior Dan Coval (Newton, PA) finished second among the Terriers and fifth overall in a time of 3:58.45, while freshman Phil Shaw (Andover, MA) followed in seventh with a time of 3:59.10.
Senior Jochen Dieckfoss (Tubingen, Germany) placed third in the 5000 meter run, finishing in a time of 14:17.16.
Senior Matt Adler (Scottzdale, AZ) led six Terriers competing in the developmental 200 meter dash, placing fifth in 21.98. Freshmen Matt Howard (San Antonio, TX) was second on the team and seventh overall in a time of 22.09. Junior Andre Nacaxe (Goiania, Brazil) and sophomore Lucjan Zaborowski (Chorzow, Poland) finished in 23rd and 24th place, respectively, with both runners crossing the finish line in 22.57.
Adler also earned a Top 10 finish in the seeded 400 meter dash, winning his section and finishing ninth overall with a time of 48.19.
Nacaxe placed sixth in the developmental 400 meter dash, racing in a time of 48.74. Zaborowski followed in 11th with a time of 48.89. Howard placed 18th in 49.15, while freshman Barry Graham (Scottsdale, AZ) was 19th in 49.24.
Sophomore Pete Maitland (Cohasset, MA) and junior Jeff McAulay (Poughkeepsie, NY) led the Terriers in the field events. Maitland finished eighth overall in the javelin throw with a distance of 184' 00". McAulay placed 20th in the long jump with a jump of 21'7¼".
The Terriers next compete at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, April 10.
