BOSTON - Junior attacker Lindsay Lewis (Glenelg, MD) totaled a game-high seven points off four goals and three assists as the 11th-ranked Boston University women's lacrosse team posted a 17-9 victory over Harvard At Nickerson Field on Wednesday, April 6.
Senior goalkeeper Anne Sheridan (Baltimore, MD) made a season- and game-high 18 saves as the B.U. registered its fourth consecutive win.
With the victory, the Terriers improve to 8-1 on the season and a perfect 3-0 against Bay State opponents. Earlier this season, B.U. defeated Massachusetts, 14-4, on March 2, and Boston College, 15-7, on March 30. It marks the first time since the 1999 season that the Terriers swept the three intra-state rivals.
B.U. built a 6-1 lead early in the first half as six different Terriers factored in the scoring. Freshman midfielder Lauren Morton (Glenside, PA) scored two goals and sophomore attacker Angie Martin (Catonsville, MD) had two assists in the first 10:55 of play.
Natalie Curtis scored a pair of goals and Harvard rallied to cut the deficit to 8-5 at halftime.
Senior midfielder Alyssa Trudel (Shoreham, VT) opened the scoring in the second half, netting a goal of a feed from Lewis at 29:07. Morton won the ensuing draw and drove from midfield for a goal at 29:00. The Terriers would out-score the Crimson, 6-1, to open the second half and pull away with the victory.
Lewis' seven-point effort was a season-high. Trudel finished with four goals and one assist. Morton tallied a season-high four goals and junior attacker Mary Beth Miller (Berlin, NJ) had three goals. Junior midfielder Kaitlyn Cuneo (Marlton, NJ) and freshman attacker Jenny Hauser (Alexandria, VA) each had a goal and an assist while Martin had two assists.
Allie Kaveney and Caroline Simmons led the Crimson as each had two goals and an assist. Elaine Belitsos and Curtis each had two goals and Tara Schoen added a goal.
Sheridan stopped 18 shots while allowing eight goals in the first 55:20 of play. Freshman Jenna Golden (Suffern, NY) made her first career appearance in place of Sheridan, playing the final 4:40 of the game while making two saves and allowing one goal.
Kristin Tylander posted eight saves for the Crimson.
The Terriers held a 17-11 advantage on the draw as Morton secured a game-high five draws. The freshman midfielder also had two caused turnovers and two ground balls in the game.
B.U. will look to extend its current win streak to five games when it hosts America East rival UMBC on Saturday, April 9, at 7:00 p.m. The Terriers will then get set for their showdown with fourth-ranked Georgetown on Monday, April 11, at 4:00 p.m.
