PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Boston University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams performed well at the Brown Invitational on Sunday, April 30. The men's team had a strong showing with 10 top-three finishes. The women were equally impressive with eight top-four finishes on the day. Junior Steve Boursiquot (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and freshman Alexis Beaudet (Hutchinson, Kan.) each picked up a pair of top three finishes.
Boursiquot and junior Nick Goodman (Watertown, Mass.) led the way for the men's team as each took first place in their events. Boursiquot finished first in the long jump with a distance of 7.01 meters (23'), while also taking second in the triple jump with a distance of 13.48 meters (44'2"). Goodman finished first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.82.
For the women's team, Beaudet finished second in the long jump with a distance of 5.4 meters (17'8.75") after placing third in the 100 meters at 12.59. Sophomore Tahari James (Branford, Conn.) finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.94 meters (42'5.5").
Other strong performances by the men's team included a second place finish by junior Matt Howard (San Antonio, Texas) in the 200 meters (22.37) and a second place finish by the 4x400 relay team (3:15.98). Senior Lucjan Zaborowski (Chorzow, Poland) finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 22.60.
Junior Barry Graham (Scottsdale, Ariz.) finished third in the 400 meters in 49.45, while sophomore Jake Laroe (Warwick, N.Y.) took third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.59. Sophomore Gregg Daggett (Chicago, Ill.) finished third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.81 and junior Andy Beatman (Middletown, Conn.) finished third in the javelin with a throw of 53.59 (175'10").
Finishing strong for the women's team was Claire Robson who took third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.18. Senior Erin Cadden (Allentown, Pa.) finished third in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.40. Senior Vicki Lopez (Queens, N.Y.) finished third in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:02.60. Freshman Rebecca Marshburn (Dana Point, Calif) placed fourth in both the 100 and 400 meter hurdles, finishing in 15.43 and 1:02.89 respectively.
The Terriers compete next at the America East Outdoor Championships at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H., on Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7.
