The Boston University women’s soccer program will have a new face on its coaching staff for the first time in four years this season. Liz Driscoll, previously the head coach at Wellesley College, has been named Assistant Coach and begins her tenure at BU on August 1.
“We are thrilled to have Liz Driscoll join our staff,” said head coach Nancy Feldman, who begins her 12th season at the helm of the Terriers. “Her breadth of experience as a head coach, and the success she has had as both a player and a coach, will be a welcome addition to our program. She will add considerable insight with regard to team tactics and in the training environment, and will be another resource for our players to aid in their development.”
Driscoll’s duties will include assisting with team and individual coaching on the field, she will serve as the general recruiting coordinator, she will have video editing responsibilities and she will contribute to community outreach projects and camp programming. She replaces Jen Goff, who departed last spring following three years on the staff.
Driscoll spent seven years (1999-2005) as the head coach for Wellesley, where she compiled an overall record of 63-35-11. In 1999, her first season with the Blue, Wellesley went 17-2-1, captured the New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title and advanced to the sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The 17 wins were a school record and Driscoll was named NEWMAC Coach of the Year for her efforts.
While at Wellesley, Driscoll was an assistant professor in Physical Education. She taught badminton, strength training and running. She was also the coach of the Region I ODP team in Massachusetts from 2001-03.
Prior to her stint with the Blue, Driscoll was the head coach at Lock Haven (Pa.) University in 1998, where the Lady Eagles went 11-7-2, including 7-1-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. She was the interim head coach at Lock Haven in 1997 (13-5-2, 8-1-1-, PSAC) and a graduate assistant for the Lady Eagles in 1996. Driscoll began her coaching career as an assistant at Wellesley in 1995.
Driscoll played her college soccer at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, N.H., where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Ravens. She helped Franklin Pierce to three appearances in the NCAA Division II Final Four and in 1994 the Ravens won the national championship, with Driscoll playing midfield/forward. Driscoll ended her career with 35 goals, which was a school record at the time, and 87 points, which was second all-time when she graduated.
A native of Essex County, England, a suburb of London, Driscoll was a member of the British Regional Under-18 team. She graduated from Franklin Pierce in 1994 with a degree in Recreational Management. She received her Master’s degree in Liberal Arts from Lock Haven in 1996. Driscoll is engaged to Johan Kullstam.
